Avoid These 4 Mistakes! Considering Sponsors For Your Content? This Might Be a Better Option!

Ever wonder how some content creators skyrocket their growth and create a buzz around their brand?

Here's the secret—smart growth partnerships!

Today Content is Profit, we debrief a call I had with our partners from Hubspot.

We talked about a few ways you can approach your platform growth, and how you can present a great opportunity to potential investors.

First up, do your best to diversify your content.

Instead of sticking to one format, why not multipurpose your core content across audio, video, and text?

A lot of people are talking about this one, but we see just a few executing correctly. Take advantage of this!

Next, we talked about how important is a multichannel strategy.

It's not just about being everywhere; it's about being where it matters most. By collaborating with partners who share your vision, you can cross-promote and tap into new audiences seamlessly.... the best part, is not that complicated ;)

We also touched on the power of centralizing your efforts.

Having a dedicated hub for your content, like a website that showcases your work and dives deeper into your topics, can draw in more organic traffic and keep your audience coming back for more.

Again, most people preach this, but hard to execute. We share a very simple way for you to get started today... no lie.

Lastly, Personal Branding made an appearance.

Connecting with your audience on a personal level by showing the real people behind the content humanizes your brand and builds stronger, more meaningful partnerships.

(Spoiler alert, this is not for everyone)

Ready to take your content strategy to the next level and forge partnerships that propel your business forward?

Enjoy!

[00:00:00] The concept of growth partners. Why can I give in return, right? Are we impacting the right people? Am I connecting them to the right audience? Am I connecting my partners to the right relationships? They love to see people that are investing in their multimedia approach. Video, on audio, on text, and so on. Can we have a multi-channel approach? For example, you have your YouTube show, but then you can grab some of those clips and then your growth partner can publish those on their social medias. Build a little website for it. Make sure that there's some blog that you can put some content on.

[00:00:30] There's a lot of content in there that supports the main episodes. Invest in yourself or your company as a brand. People want that connection, that real connection with you, with your CEOs, with your CMOs, with that personality that is right behind the microphone. At the end of the day, it's like, how can we create in a sustainable way so we can sustain the quality of the message?

[00:00:48] Hey, guys. Welcome back to Content is Profit. Today, I had an incredible call with our team from Hotspot. Every couple of months or so, we join in on a creator's townhome, basically.

[00:01:06] All the creators share some very smart questions, some incredible tips, and we just learn together and we continue to improve on this art of podcasting and content creation.

[00:01:20] Also, quick update, the Hotspot Podcast Network has updated to the Multimedia Network. They started investing in YouTube channels, so if you're interested, go ahead to their website. You can just Google media network from Hotspot or Hotspot Podcast Network and you'll find the links right there.

[00:01:37] But it has been super exciting to learn from a bunch of people. And I had a question to basically our community manager, the person that kind of helps us with the relationships.

[00:01:48] And we've had a ton of questions inside of the studio from people that want to start their shows, whether that's on YouTube or on podcasting.

[00:01:56] And they're looking for an initial investment, right? Like the initial question is always like, how can I get a sponsor right away? And if you haven't heard the episode with Justin Moore, go ahead and listen to that episode.

[00:02:07] It's just a few episodes back. It's incredible. He's a mastermind at sponsorships, right? And he really made us rethink how we think about those relationships, one.

[00:02:18] But also, we've talked a lot about, you know, about this topic specifically on events. A lot of people call them sponsors, but we like to call them growth partners, right?

[00:02:28] Because when you're launching a show, whether it's brand new or a type of content, it could be short form, it could be YouTube, it could be whatever medium you feel comfortable with.

[00:02:37] At the beginning, it's going to be challenging to get that traction, right? There's many elements that we have to get together, right?

[00:02:42] There's the consistency, the quality of the content, the quality of the message, which is super important, right?

[00:02:51] We have to start finding those people that resonate with that message. Are we polarizing? Are we not polarizing?

[00:02:56] Is our topic big enough to attract a big audience? Is our topic niche enough to attract a really high quality and engaged audience, right?

[00:03:04] There's benefits to all of this. And as people start to publish and create their own channels and their own shows,

[00:03:10] these are things that they have to discover by executing. That's our point of view.

[00:03:14] That's, you know, how we've seen most of the shows very successfully execute, right?

[00:03:19] So there is a way that we've been able to, I guess, present to a few people in the studio,

[00:03:24] and we've kind of tested it on different events, which is the concept of growth partners, right?

[00:03:29] So for those who don't know, that would be like a company or a relationship or an investor

[00:03:34] that really likes what you do, your concept, your idea, and they invest in your platform for long term, right?

[00:03:41] So let's say they invest $2,000, $3,000, $5,000 a month in your thing,

[00:03:47] and this will be like almost like pitching a company, right?

[00:03:50] And in return of that, why can't we give us a show?

[00:03:55] Obviously, you know, we are super upfront of like, okay, we are building an audience.

[00:03:59] This brand new show.

[00:04:00] And this is where people are starting out in this specific case, but you can also get growth partners

[00:04:04] if you are more advanced and there's more assets in the back end that you can do.

[00:04:07] But why can I give in return, right?

[00:04:09] Are we impacting the right people?

[00:04:11] Am I connecting them to the right audience?

[00:04:13] Am I connecting my partners to the right relationships, right?

[00:04:17] Here's an example.

[00:04:18] We have a show that runs here in the studio that is super religious,

[00:04:22] and he loves to connect people that might not be of faith with churches.

[00:04:27] And so the churches are the growth partners.

[00:04:29] They invest in him to put the message out there, to have these conversations,

[00:04:33] and then move people forward, you know, in their faith, for example, right?

[00:04:38] We have another political podcast that's very similar to what they do,

[00:04:42] is they grab these organizations that might resonate with their message, right?

[00:04:49] And they invest in them as they discuss things or topics that is relevant to their audience.

[00:04:58] And then there's an exchange of newsletter and different things.

[00:05:01] So the question I asked our hotspot network manager was like,

[00:05:05] you as growth partners, what are you looking for for shows to kind of come into either your platform

[00:05:13] or, you know, as this content ecosystem evolves, how can we, you know, help more people gain more clarity, right?

[00:05:21] So they gave me actually four steps, and here's what we're going to go through today.

[00:05:25] Just a little bit, you know, top of mind, and then maybe we bring funds in with this cause on that.

[00:05:29] So the first thing that they told me is they love to see people that are investing in their multimedia approach, right?

[00:05:37] They have the audio.

[00:05:38] They have YouTube.

[00:05:38] They have clips, right?

[00:05:40] They might be writing a blog under their show or under their content and then publishing on their website, for example, right?

[00:05:48] They're pushing their brand out there.

[00:05:49] They're pushing their message out there in multiple ways.

[00:05:52] And we're big fans of this, obviously, because, you know, from the podcast, you can create all these assets.

[00:05:57] You can use software like Captcha, for example, which they are amazing.

[00:06:01] They're awesome partners, right, where you can grab that and turn into different assets of text.

[00:06:07] And then if you were the creator, you can grab and you can tell your growth partner, based on these episodes, we can feed you content, not only for your website, but also on our website.

[00:06:18] But you can publish that content in your newsletter, in your website, in your blog, right?

[00:06:24] So you can actually provide that to them.

[00:06:26] And then you're saving them a ton of money and investment, maybe a lot of time in something like that, right?

[00:06:32] So multimedia approach, figure out a way on how can you create in different ways, right?

[00:06:37] On video, on audio, on text, and so on.

[00:06:40] If you have questions on that, please reach out.

[00:06:42] At Biz Brosco, we're happy to help you.

[00:06:44] That's what we do day in and day out, right?

[00:06:46] The other thing is, can we have a multi-channel, you know, approach, right?

[00:06:52] A lot of people try to stay away from this.

[00:06:55] Whereas, like, are we posting on Instagram, TikTok, YouTube shorts, even though it's, like, the same type of content, it can be very overwhelming keeping up with, you know, the audience or your, or the comments that come in, right?

[00:07:08] Or maybe, like, how do I engage physically?

[00:07:10] And a lot of the advice, I guess, is around focus on one platform, one platform only, and then scale.

[00:07:16] And again, there's not right or wrong.

[00:07:18] We've seen both ways.

[00:07:19] But if you have a multi-channel approach, and it doesn't have to be all of them, it can be a couple of them, then you might have the ability to trigger conversations with more growth partners.

[00:07:33] And maybe the multi-channel approach is not just you creating for the channel, but maybe it's you creating for their channels as a way to collaborate with it.

[00:07:42] So, for example, you have your YouTube show, which is your focus, but then you can grab some of those clips with topics relevant, and then that company or your growth partner can publish those on their social media.

[00:07:54] So that's another form that you can add value into that, right?

[00:07:58] The other thing that, you know, they told us was on your own website, right, at the end of the day with your show, with your type of content, build a little website for it.

[00:08:09] Make sure that there's some blog that you can put some content in there that supports the main episodes, right?

[00:08:16] They're really looking into something like this because it can be evergreen.

[00:08:19] It can be long-term, right?

[00:08:21] And that's a very valuable asset to start building an email list.

[00:08:25] So element number three, like I said, is building your own website.

[00:08:29] One tip that they really shared with us was pair the episode with one of those blogs, but not a blog that explains the whole episode.

[00:08:38] Kind of dive deep into one of those elements.

[00:08:41] So, for example, if you're talking about the three ways to grow social media, focus and go deep into one of those,

[00:08:47] and then tag the episode, the button, or the video in that blog post so they can continue listening to the other.

[00:08:55] So that way you can drive traffic across both.

[00:08:57] And obviously in the episode you say, hey, we're actually going to dive deep into number one if you'd like to read it, for example.

[00:09:03] So that was, I think, a very interesting tip that they mentioned that is working really well with some of the bigger shows, right?

[00:09:10] And then the last one that they mentioned was invest in yourself or your company as a brand, right?

[00:09:18] Today is more important than ever, especially with a lot of AI kind of going out and going crazy out there.

[00:09:25] People want that connection, that real connection with you, with your CEOs, with your CMOs, with that personality that is right behind the microphone.

[00:09:33] And if they can see that is that the real you, that's why we're so big fans of live content.

[00:09:40] It's going to be very beneficial, right?

[00:09:43] Because they will then invest in you, not only the company, but you maybe as an entrepreneur, as the messenger of the X topic, for example, right?

[00:09:53] Like what are some workflows that make sense to us as creators to be able to accomplish that, right?

[00:10:01] Let me see.

[00:10:02] I'm just going through my notes here.

[00:10:03] And like I said, raw and unreal.

[00:10:05] And then I think like these are probably some of my last notes that I wrote about the topic.

[00:10:11] It's like, okay, about the workflows, like how can we sustain like all these four elements, right?

[00:10:14] In our side, we talk about the six levers, right?

[00:10:17] Like the what to say, the creation method, the production, right?

[00:10:20] The distribution, monetization, and how to manage all of that.

[00:10:24] If you want more details into that, send me a DM.

[00:10:26] I'm happy to share it.

[00:10:28] How can we invest in long-term success of the show, right?

[00:10:31] Are we looking at this as in this is a quick solution that my business might need today?

[00:10:37] It might not be the right solution, right?

[00:10:39] Or is this something that I'm willing to do for the next two, three years in a very sustainable way?

[00:10:43] And how can we add pieces to the puzzle, whether that's an editor, whether that's like a script writer, whether that's like a co-host, right?

[00:10:51] What are those things that we need to put in place so we can make it very sustainable, right?

[00:10:58] And don't go into expensive software right away.

[00:11:01] There's very simple solutions.

[00:11:02] I mean, right now, we've done 500 episodes.

[00:11:05] And even though behind that wall and behind that wall, we have a couple of studios.

[00:11:09] I'm recording this with a left mic and my webcam, right?

[00:11:13] So at the end of the day, it's like, how can we create in a sustainable way, even though so we can sustain the quality of the message, right?

[00:11:19] So quick recap of the episode.

[00:11:22] This was just my thoughts.

[00:11:23] I thought it was really interesting of what they told me as growth partners.

[00:11:27] What are some of the things that they're looking for?

[00:11:29] So you can go ahead and grab them.

[00:11:31] So invest in multimedia approach, right?

[00:11:35] Start distribution on a multi-channel if you can, based on your resources, right?

[00:11:39] But it doesn't have to be all of them.

[00:11:41] It can be one or two.

[00:11:42] Have your own website with specific blog posts about a specific thing inside of your episode, not the whole thing.

[00:11:50] And then invest in yourself as a brand or your company.

[00:11:54] But most importantly, your personal brand.

[00:11:56] So hopefully, this was a quickie episode and it helps you move the needle forward.

[00:12:01] If you have any questions, please reach out at the BizRoseCo or bizrose.co on social media and our website.

[00:12:08] All right.

[00:12:09] Take care.

[00:12:09] Bye.

[00:12:10] Bye.
