This morning I woke up to a flood of comments on our Football Show. Some were laughing with us. Some were insulting my accent, my English, my opinion on a soccer game.
And here's the part that doesn't make sense... that same show just crossed 100,000 views in 30 days.
The algorithm doesn't know the difference between love and hate. It only sees engagement.
For 400-plus episodes of Content Is Profit, I played it safe. Stayed in the middle. Meshed with everybody. This episode is about what happened when I stopped... and the fear that keeps most people from ever hitting publish.
I break down the two kinds of comments (and why your fear can't tell them apart), three reasons the hate is actually good for your business, and five things you can do to keep creating true to your message... even when your stomach drops.
Be you. Put it out there. The negative always comes... but so does the good.
