[00:00:00] Content Creation Guide for Business Owners, the first three steps.
[00:00:03] We accept the idea that initially we're going to suck and we decided to embrace the suck.
[00:00:09] In ours experience, we used every single opportunity to create content, let's say, an episode.
[00:00:16] To learn and improve, I get a little bit better.
[00:00:19] We might be masters at running a business.
[00:00:20] We might be really good at selling every single opportunity that you get to be a podcast
[00:00:25] host.
[00:00:27] Is that an opportunity where you're getting warmer to that output?
[00:00:30] We think about very black and white, pay for this team to create something and this
[00:00:34] something is going to be the thing that is going to create a ton of revenue for me.
[00:00:39] I think there's a wrong way to think about it.
[00:00:41] How we need to think about it is...
[00:00:47] Hey guys, I'm welcome back to Content Is Profit.
[00:00:49] Today, I have a special episode for you, a little bit of a rant, a little bit of a lesson,
[00:00:54] a little bit of my feedback on my thoughts on one of my favorite creators.
[00:01:00] He had this episode where he was not the bucking, the bucking, but he was kind of explaining
[00:01:08] how do we create it in a sense?
[00:01:11] It's really interesting because this week we've been very fortunate here in the studio that we've
[00:01:15] had a lot of people that are coming in.
[00:01:17] Mostly business owners, right?
[00:01:19] They're asking questions about why a podcast, how to start a podcast, how to start a podcast,
[00:01:24] how to play a platform.
[00:01:25] We see this as not just the podcast, but as a platform with the podcast episode as a corner
[00:01:29] stone for relationship building and your social content as a safety net for people who
[00:01:35] and they find you, they go there and be like, oh these guys, they know what they're talking about.
[00:01:39] All these things.
[00:01:40] But here's the funny part about 90% of people that ask to go on start the podcast.
[00:01:47] They might just be curious, right?
[00:01:48] But just a very small percentage, it's willing to actually continue and produce a podcast.
[00:01:55] Let alone create a quote unquote successful podcast or successful platform or successful YouTube
[00:02:01] channel.
[00:02:03] In the world that we live in, we see a lot of business owners that they might be running
[00:02:07] the day-to-day operations.
[00:02:08] They might be a manager.
[00:02:09] They might handle creators.
[00:02:11] They might handle builders.
[00:02:12] They might handle people working in their company.
[00:02:19] They have a message, they have this firing side of them that they want to put out to the
[00:02:23] world, they want to help people out with what they know, right?
[00:02:26] Or they have a product that is really good and serves as specific audience.
[00:02:32] And they see the podcast and the social content as a way to promote that and to sell more of units
[00:02:38] of that.
[00:02:39] Here's the kicker.
[00:02:41] Right? What we've seen across, you know, in the last seven years has been that people when we put them
[00:02:46] a camera in front of them.
[00:02:49] Some of them might have experienced talking in public or speaking in public or in front of a camera at some degree.
[00:02:55] But most people don't.
[00:02:57] And there's this transition between business owner and creator, right?
[00:03:01] And my genders like this line right on this side, you have business owner and then on the other line
[00:03:06] on the other side of the line, you have full on creator picture Mr. Beast, right?
[00:03:11] Or like any YouTube creator that you might follow or podcaster, right?
[00:03:16] So the people on the right hand side, right? They creators might know how business experience
[00:03:22] but they're really good at editing the video, are creating a storyline, you know, creating a hook and getting you into this.
[00:03:30] So what I'm going to share today is like three things, right? For the business owner that's on the other side
[00:03:37] to kind of take into account as they start their publishing journey. Right?
[00:03:43] Almost like a content creation guide for business owners the first three steps and this is almost like when I heard this creator talk about this
[00:03:52] I'm like man like that's the husband on my head, I haven't been able to put it on a list.
[00:03:55] But every single conversation, this is the things that we mentioned that we have to be aware of and that we have to accept in order to become a successful creator than the right.
[00:04:07] So number one is learning how to try, right? And it's funny because you know, we might be masters of a skill, we might be masters at running a business, we might be really good at selling
[00:04:17] but the skill of creating the skill of storytelling might be a little bit different, you know, I go back to, you know, I go, I was in the finniss industry for a long time.
[00:04:30] I managed a finniss studio with 15 people for a few years we had about a thousand members in the finniss studio.
[00:04:36] I was pretty okay talking to people and you know, explaining our packages and explain the benefits and bonding with them and created relationships with the first time I had a camera in front of me.
[00:04:50] It was really challenging for me to construct a full thought or something that may sense for, you know, the projects that we were selling and it took some time and then when we started the podcast similar thing we had to
[00:05:03] the first few episodes we had to restart the camera like 30 times because we're losing our train of thoughts or we were worried about, you know, the battery and all these elements and it was just very confusing.
[00:05:14] So in ours, in ours experience we used every single opportunity to create content let's say an episode to learn and improve I get a little bit better.
[00:05:25] For context, if you want to go to YouTube and go to our very first or second episode, you'll see like it's recorded from an iPhone right now in recording from a camera number one and then we have a camera number two and then we have the audio equipment and there's a light here and there's a monitor and it's like, oh nice and fancy and looks amazing.
[00:05:41] But you know, it took some time to get there also we didn't know about equipment we didn't know what to use and maybe sometimes I don't even know what to use sometimes but the idea is I accepted or we accepted the idea that initially we're going to suck.
[00:05:56] Right, and we decided to embrace the suck and continue on move forward and we established that we're going to do three episodes a week to speed up the learning process and you know right now we're very lucky that we have a podcast with more than 500 something episodes.
[00:06:11] That some people enjoy some people don't enjoy which is totally okay, but more importantly that we enjoy you know we turned that suck initially into something that we love and adore and.
[00:06:22] Is the platform that has opened many many doors for us not only in our business but also in our personal life.
[00:06:29] Number one mistake I think a lot of people you know do when they started to polish is comparing themselves to a creator that might be out there.
[00:06:37] For the longest time right and these goes in every single platform right we see something that inspires we see somebody saying something or doing something or taking pictures of something that inspires us and we're like we want to do that.
[00:06:48] But sometimes we mistake or we forget that there's a lot of practice or big resources behind some kind of content like that and then when we tackle it to do it, you know when we tackle it and we try to do it ourselves or we have a small team that maybe have no experience or we start this project.
[00:07:06] We expect it to be at that level and initially something that we have to do is which is embrace the suck you know learning how to drive all right step number two or item number two.
[00:07:19] Specialist not found is cultivated right so it's okay I'm passionate about.
[00:07:25] I'm passionate about this project I want to do the thing so let's say for example our soccer podcast we're passionate about soccer we want to do the thing and then you start doing the thing but then there's all their elements you know inside of this six.
[00:07:39] Let's say how do we research this thing or how do I create it is it like in studio is here in the stadiums is it like on the road like how are we creating this thing to the production we have to edit these videos right and then is like we have to distribute these videos and how do we connect it to revenue how do we actually make money out of this publishing platform.
[00:07:58] How do we manage all of this right and it's really hard to find some kind of passion when we start.
[00:08:10] Kind of segmenting the task or cementing like what we have to do to in order to bring this project forward right.
[00:08:15] So yeah we're passionate about the soccer we're talking about watching it we're passionate about talking but maybe instead of those six levers that I just mentioned maybe there's some things that we're not very passionate about so.
[00:08:26] How do we cultivate that passion so we don't stop right doing it and is identifying those steps instead of your content production process.
[00:08:33] So you are able to even delegate it or subcontract is somebody else or build that relationship that can help you with it and then start plugging those holes of the things that you might not like to do too much.
[00:08:44] For example number one for a little bit is the editing so you know shameless bug if you have a podcast or you have a content that you want it produced let us know we're specialized not only podcast but fractional content in some weekend definitely help you.
[00:08:58] If it's not us that do we we can help you optimize the systems of the new can give it to your virtual systems or your editor and go from there but.
[00:09:06] How do you actually.
[00:09:08] Do that is like finding those moments that you might not really enjoy if you're doing it yourself or maybe the team doesn't have the skills I'm plugging in people with the skills to do it so you can focus on what you love.
[00:09:19] Maybe talking in front of a camera is not your forte but because you guys maybe you have the goal of the company that content needs to go out there's different ways that we can do that so I have an example just this morning.
[00:09:32] I was on a call and one of the people in the call they have a horse business right they train horses they have it is incredible app and they're starting to create content but he doesn't want to be his CEO he doesn't want to be the face of the company doesn't want to be in front of a camera.
[00:09:48] So what we did is we just brainstorm a bunch of ideas on how we can showcase the training that they do with different equipment and maybe it's a voiceover maybe somebody else a talent in their team that wants to be on camera and there's ways to be consistent and frequent.
[00:10:02] And other things that I'm pushing the content forward without you being the face of it so as you start you know segmenting or like uncovering all these steps and identifying ideally enjoy how to do this or I don't enjoy how to do this you will know what to give your team or hire for and then that way you can cultivate the passion.
[00:10:22] I'm going to do this with the content of inside of the content creation process right so create by willing to suck for a long period of time so that's another thing you know embrace the talk we talked about it earlier.
[00:10:32] This is part of the same thing is you understand that it's going to suck but guess what it's not so in your eyes there's going to be people out there call it that your message quality or the message over quality of production is going to be so important and you're going to be helping them even though you're content sucks.
[00:10:48] So I highly recommend put your message out there there's going to be people are going to be super useful I still remember when we put I think it's like episode five episodes six which is solo episodes somebody on social media reached out.
[00:11:01] I mean it's like hey guys, but the fact that you guys are documenting this and I saw your latest episode and you guys are just laughing about them mistakes that you were making.
[00:11:10] It just inspired me to put my message out on to us man that meant the world because you meant that we can we saw somebody we saw the impact that episode did even though it sucked in in our eyes.
[00:11:23] And he helped them move the needle forward so he gave us a whole bunch of energy to continue.
[00:11:28] All right the last thing the third point is.
[00:11:32] Sometimes we think about the situation is like okay hey I pay this whole team or I'm renting this studio and I go in and this is it this is the vehicle this is the piece of content this is the structure.
[00:11:46] That's going to either make it or break it right and we think about very linear very black and white hey I pay for this service or I pay for this of a contractor I pay for this team to create something and this something is gonna.
[00:11:58] Be the thing that is gonna create a ton of revenue for me for example right and I think there's a wrong way to think about it.
[00:12:07] I think how we need to think about it is almost like a sport right if you play soccer football or baseball whatever for the first time we're bowling or table tennis or whatever it is.
[00:12:18] You are not born knowing that sport you're gonna suck right you got to put in the reps and sometimes you know raise your hand or you know tell me in the comments if you thought about this.
[00:12:28] If you are you maybe you thought that you wanted to play a sport and you really loved it because you loved how to watch him you're like I'm gonna learn this right and then you're like I don't.
[00:12:37] You try to try to try to try to try to try to try to try to try to try to try to try to try to try to try to try to really enjoy to practice and you're to watch about on enjoy to practice then you know you move and you do something else and then your goal is to be active.
[00:12:48] I think I'm sport and then you get closer to another sport so you were getting warmer to that solution same with content right maybe you tried YouTube.
[00:12:58] Maybe YouTube is not your vehicle right maybe you tried you know social media content user generated content maybe that's not the way.
[00:13:06] But you still need to use content to put your message out there and you're getting warmer to the vehicle that you're gonna do it as you put in the reps you're gonna get warmer to to get it to the best.
[00:13:17] The best creator that you can be so think about the situation.
[00:13:23] Think about getting warm rather than that this is it to vehicle that it's so every single opportunity that you get to put your message in front of a camera every single opportunity that you get to be a podcast guest that you get to be a podcast host.
[00:13:35] Is that opportunity where you're getting warmer to that output or getting warmer to that result that you really want right sometimes.
[00:13:43] You know you find out that that's not the vehicle that you need to be we've had a lot of people that we've helped that we thought it you know podcasting might have been the vehicle but they don't enjoy the process they don't enjoy creating and they enjoy recording for no camera perfect that's totally okay which is getting warmer to the solution that they need right.
[00:13:58] So just a quick recap.
[00:14:01] Number one learning how to try right number two passion is not found is cultivated and number three thinking about gaining warm rather than this is the thing so a little bit of a rant I see a lot of these elements coming through and you know once you uncover that box there's content creation.
[00:14:18] There's a lot of things kind of flooding in into us that you know elements that we cannot control things new things new skills that we have to develop and is a process that we need to embrace.
[00:14:31] If we are really committed to a message and we really want to make a difference so I had to encourage you to start trying things out if you have let me know what are you trying are you trying social media you're trying you to try and podcasting.
[00:14:43] What have you tried what are you enjoying where you're not enjoying I would love to hear your feedback on social media at the biz brosco you can send us a DM there you can put it in the comments right here on YouTube.
[00:14:54] And then you can go to biz brosco to find out a little bit more what we do there at the bottom right there's a little contact us button put in there hey at least I heard the episode and this is what I'm doing so with that say guys thank you so much for tuning to the show and we'll see you around take care.
